World Women Summit

Leslie Knott
Canadian Filmmaker | Producer | Storyteller

Leslie Knott is an award winning documentary filmmaker whose work explores the intersection of storytelling, collective trauma, and cultural resilience. For over twenty years she has filmed in conflict and post-conflict regions, examining how war, displacement, and historical injustice shape both communities and the storytellers who document them.

Her recent work reflects a personal and professional journey examining her own settler ancestry while collaborating with Indigenous filmmakers and communities in Canada. Through these collaborations, she explores how the legacies of colonization and intergenerational trauma continue to influence identity, memory, and narrative.

As co-founder of Tiger Nest Films, Leslie champions ethical, mentorship-driven filmmaking that centres local voices and lived experience. Her projects often investigate hidden histories and systems of power.
