Atim Mbah
Founder of Green Farmlands | Working towards equitable, nutritious and sustainable food systems

Atim Mbah is the founder of Green Farmlands, a community-based organization working towards equitable, nutritious and sustainable food systems in Cameroon. In 2011, Atim started a career in community development, with a passion and desire to address social injustice and provide sustainable solutions for those in need. Through her work, she gained perspectives about life, economics, and the impact on the daily lives of smallholder farmers. These experiences led her to start Green Farmlands in 2016, where she continued impacting her community via agricultural activities.

Transformed by the knowledge, experience, and skills gathered through agribusiness training as a 2017 Australia Africa Awardee and a 2017 Mandela Washington Fellow, Atim decided to pursue a master’s in Sustainable Food Systems from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

Atim is leading high-impact initiatives that improve livelihoods and food security for smallholder farmers and orphanages, in Cameroon. Her work—anchored in social justice, local knowledge, and practical innovation—demonstrates exactly the kind of systems thinking and community-rooted leadership needed to transform and build strong and resilient food systems. She is a 2023 Echoing Green Fellow, A Real Food Systems Ambassador and a Roddenberry Global +1 Food Security Awardee.
